Sometimes rules are for breaking…

Sometimes rules are for breaking…

In the bible it is quite clear – a law is a law and a rule is a rule. They are not there for breaking. If you do sin and are not truly sorry, you will have to bear the consequences.

Until I read Mark 3, and then a different light was shone on all of this.

In this passage it is the Sabbath – a sacred day of rest. In biblical times this was very important and taken seriously. However, a man who is sick approaches Jesus at the synagogue. In this situation, Jesus places love over the rules and heals the man. he has compassion for Him and puts aside the commandment. When the people around are surprised Jesus says:

“Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?”

The rules are there to help us, not hinder our good works.
